>Our client in Lake County is seeking an Engineering Manager
Job Description Summary
Directs, supervises, and coordinates activities in the engineering and tool room departments. Implements plans to meet long-range engineering objectives. Stamping- plastics experience a plus.
Duties and Responsibilities
Establish processes determine and recommend appropriate materials for punch press, multi-slide, and plastics press machines.
Prepare designs and cost estimates for tool revisions.
Make tooling recommendations for prototypes from part drawings.
Study specifications, engineering blueprints, tool orders, and shop data to aid in resolving design problems related to material characteristics, dimensional tolerances, service requirements, manufacturing procedures, and cost.
Modify tool designs according to trial or production service data to improve tool life or performance.
Establish maintenance programs and tool revision projects to avoid downtime, increase efficiency, and provide for ongoing cost reductions.
Develop strategies to increase capacity, improve quality and make recommendations with justifications of capital expenditures.
Support product development teams in the area of equipment and processes by leading weekly engineering meetings.
Define and document engineering processes using various methods.
Maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
Oversee the training of all department employees. This includes training new employees and re-training current employees on new process and practices
Develop and maintain a team effort within the department that is customer focused.
Ensure that all information gathered by the staff is accurate.
Develop a department business plan yearly that supports the overall company objectives.
Responsible for informing the V P of Operations of all noteworthy activities that take place.
Follow ISO/TS, safety, and environmental procedures as well as department and corporate policies and procedures. |
